Our take
Prince Wilhelm is sent to an elite boarding school after a scandal and falls for Simon, a day student from the town who is out, working class and not remotely interested in being a secret. Three seasons take that all the way to its logical conclusion rather than resolving it with a speech.
The Swedish specificity helps — the class politics are sharper than the equivalent British or American show would dare, and the monarchy is treated as a machine that eats people. Edvin Ryding is remarkable, the ending is genuinely earned, and the whole thing is only eighteen episodes.
