Our take
Ryan is gay, has mild cerebral palsy, and lets his new colleagues believe his limp is the result of a car accident because that feels easier to explain. O’Connell adapted his own memoir and plays himself, and the show is very funny about the small daily negotiations of disability that most television ignores entirely.
Season one is fifteen-minute episodes and season two stretches out to full length, with a mother’s storyline that is as good as anything in it. Two brief seasons; you can finish it in an evening, and the sex-worker episode is the one everyone remembers.
